In 2013 I was named Best Travel Writer at the National Travel Industry Awards. And until someone corrects me, I'm claiming to be the youngest cruise editor in the Southern Hemisphere. Editor of Cruise Weekly since 2009, I also contribute to Sydney's Sun Herald newspaper and various travel magazines and websites.

Captain Jonathan Mercer – – If I make it to the #D439 voyage would you be open to receiving my volunteer lecture service about the S.S. Leopoldville Disaster of December 24, 1944? I have a rather interesting slide presentation and talk about this incident. I am a Docent and Speaker’s Bureau presenter for the National Mariners’ Museum in Newport News, Virginia and have presented this talk to many groups – especially veteran’s groups – here in the Virginia area. It has been well received. At present we (w/ my wife and daughter) are scheduled to be in cabin # VB/6036 on that sail. I would think that the sail or night before from Portland to Cherbourg would be a good time to present it. This is purely a volunteer effort on my part and I would suspect that many of your passengers on this particular D-Day 70th Anniversary sailing would be very much interested in this presentation.
